Can't open Word documents all of a sudden.

I have Word 2013 which has worked fine up until this second. All of a sudden I can't open certain word documents. It always says that the file is in use and locked for editing. This is on a private computer. And when I exit word I always get the message about global changes have been made to the template and do I want to save. Anyone know what's going on?

your "normal.dot" file may be corrupt... Do a Repair install of Office.

Why does it only affect certain files that I try to open? It always gets the close message though.

have you run the repair install as well as your AV stuff?

Could be a number of things up to an HDD issue...

What are the file extentions of the files that fail? .doc or docx?
