I have just recently bought an r7 260x back in august. It has been pretty good (I paid 125$ for it). I think it is too late to return it. I have now just found on newegg an r9 270 for 170$ but 140$ after rebate.

Do you think it would be a good idea to upgrade so fast? Im kind of wary since I just bought the r7 and I cant return it anymore. Thanks!

If you are going to upgrade, you should at least get a card that's much faster than the one you have. You will hardly see a difference between the one you have and the one you want.

You can get a 270X for $179.99 or an MSI 280 for $189.99 after MIR. Either of these would be a more worthy upgrade, particularly the 280.

I've posted in both threads, as I don't know which one you are following. One needs to be closed.

I would personally just stay with your current card and upgrade to something bigger later on.

AMD just announced they dropped the price of the 290 to $299. I would save up for that.

A 290 -- even at $299 -- is obsolete when the 970 is $349.

The article address this too. Try finding some of those in stock.

newegg is almost all out, the price is either going to increase or they are just going to be out of stock pretty much all the time

Newegg has the Gigabyte Windforce OC. I'm pretty sure the only difference between it and the G1 are the clock speed and the OC edition has no backplate. Take a look at the Guru3D article that discusses it.
