Okay, for my Christmas this year i am hoping to build a new gaming pc. I know the basics but there are a few things that i need your guys help with. Will a AMD FX 9590 be compatible with an asrock Fatal1ty...i know they are both AM3+ sockets but i just want to make sure, i will also have a GeForce GTX 970...Another question would be if this motherboard i have chosen can hold two of these GPU's with SLI...I will be getting 8gb of DDR3 RAM and will eventually be upgrading to 12gb. But the things that i have not found yet is a case and a power supply. If any of you guys have suggestions that would be great but i REALLY want a red (preferably big) and maybe even a bundle with a PSU?...Anyway can you please tell me if this is a good build, i really hope it is as it will be my first PC build by myself and i really want this to last a good few years...Thank you guys so much. Peace.

Aw yeah and a 2tb Seagate Barracuda HDD...

I'd go with Intel for better single-core performance; hence better gaming performance too. I have included the Intel Xeon E3-1230 v3 which is similar in performance to the i7-4770. I have also included 8GB RAM, an EVGA GTX 970, amongst a solid power supply (the XFX PSU is manufactured by SeaSonic, whom manufacturer the best PSU's in the business).

The case is predominantly red, and I have included two additional fans (one for intake and another for exhaust, which both include red LEDs). The motherboard is black/red and the RAM is also red. Without further ado, I'd go with the following build:

It's best if you give us a budget and your location, with any specifics you want so we can put a build together for you. Personally i'd go with an i5-4690k if it's just for gaming. NZXT has some good red and red/black cases like the phantom 410 in red and H440 in red/black. As for PSU i'd probably look at the EVGA G2 750w if you want to SLI 970's. Bundled PSU's aren't usually very good.

As byza said it would help to know your budget. The one thing I'll add now is you should consider having a small SSD for a boot drive and maybe a 1 TB HDD. Something like a samsung 840 evo would be nice.

P.S. If you are planning to SLI in the future, please let us know and I will include a larger watt power supply (so you don't have to upgrade your PSU again when you want to SLI).

All the best. :)

Different architecture. Really cores and clock speed are secondary if the architecture isn't as good. Also most games don't even utilise 4 cores, never mind 8. More cores really is only beneficial to editing and rendering work. I'd also only go for the Xeon if you plan on doing rendering or editing, if it's just for gaming than i'd stick with an i5. Here is a non-overclockable build. I'm staying away from the EVGA 970 and 980s at the moment as they are have some issues with quality, so until thats sorted i'll be using other brands for 900 series cards. This build is ready for a second card to be dropped in for SLI. If you want to make it overclockable and keep the same quality it'll cost an extra 40-60 pounds (i've linked another parts list down to bottom, also with a phantom 410 which you might like but also cost a little more)
