ive currently got a asrock x79 extreme6 mobo and an intel 4820k i7 cpu.

through a series of unfortunate, irreversible and very expensive events i might wind up with a pair of gtx 780 ti gpu's. if i took said GPUs and put them in sli would my system be able to handle that? would there be any ill effects? (aside from temp problems which i could very easily have under control due to a previous chain potentially convenient of events)

or the better question is, would running this set up provide any significant increase to my machines capabilities?

What is your PSU? Can you give us a link or list the wattage and model?

You should be fine with two 780 Ti's in SLI with that PSU.

You don't really need two of them, though, unless you are running high resolutions (1440p and up).

sweet, i knew i would need the potential for upgrades when i bought the psu.

ok so now on to question two. will i see any dramatic increase in performance. or will i be limited by my cpu and mobo? (assuming i do wind up running 1440p and higher)

yeah i know i dont really NEED them because i doubt that i will be running any higher than 1440p but if ive got them through said unfortunate series of events then i might as well use them right?

im going to end this chain of quotes but let it be known that this is a reply to frag06

At 1440p two of them will work out great. One will be enough for many current games, but you'll see a difference with two and as new, more demanding games are released, they will really shine.

Your CPU shouldn't even come close to bottlenecking these cards at 1440p.

YES!!! if i could kiss you over the internet i would. im really glad to hear that said unfortunate events might not turn out to be so unfortunate in the long run.
