I recently switched from att to cox. My download and upload speeds are 3x faster now than what I had with att, but my ping times while playing league of legends have doubled or tripled. I can ping world of warcraft servers with like 50ms times but LoL servers return 200+. Does anyone know if there is something I can do to help with this? Router settings?

Solution
In my opinion its just league causing the issues, they have been having lots of issues with a lot of internet providers, and there for a while i was lagging none stop for like 2 months they have gotten a lot better now but over all that's one of the main reasons why i quit as there servers are always lagging and there will be times where i will be playing rank and i start disconnecting. playing any other game/searching the web i have not had any issues.

One thing you can try is changing your DNS to googles DNS see if it helps you.

Start - Control Panel - Network and sharing center - Change adapter settings - Right click the connection you are using - Properties - Internet Protocol version 4 - Use the follwoing DNS server addresses...
Make sure you are hard wired to the router. Using Wifi to game on can increase the Ping. Besides this there is very little that can be done. It is all about the connection quality between you and where you want to go. Even though you can download and upload faster the connections to the same place may be worse or even longer causing the high ping.

Hope this helps Derek!

Just changed my dns to google's and my ping for now is down to 80 which is tolerable. Thank you and I will keep an eye on it.
