Hey all,

Back in April I purchased my Asus Z87 Pro along with an OCZ Vertex 4 120GB SSD with Windows installed and a 1TB HHD. In the begenning, everything was great, I moved the SSD to the top of the boot order and had no problems. Soon, however, whenever I entered the bios, the SSD wouldn't appear in the boot order, and nothing I did could make it appear. The PC would check for a bootable HDD, then a bootable CD, then it would boot from the SSD. Good. Well, silly me wanted to see if moving the SATA cables made any difference. It did, now the PC doesn't recognize it as bootable unless I force boot. It will go through checking all the SATA ports with ablack screen then go back to the bios. The Bios for the mobo is on version 1602 (Probably not the latest), and the only change I have made is enable XMP.

Thanks for any help!

SHORT VERSION
1. Everything was good
2. SSD No longer in boot order, but PC would boot from it
3. Moved SATA cables around
4. PC checks all sata slots, goes bact to bios, and I have to force boot from SSD
5. Z87 pro with bios version 1602

how many partitions do you have on the drive?

I have 1 partition on each. The SSD contains Windows 8 only, and is loaded with games and such, while the 1TB HDD is formatted and just contains misc files and pictures.

Hmm, that's strange then.

https://www.piriform.com/defraggler try defraggler and check your drive for any problems, then tell me.

Have you tried reinstalling or refreshing your windows? Or reformat your drive with another type of format and try that.
