______

Main gripes:
- The case? This one's kind of up for grabs at the moment, but I do want a mid tower.
- CPU Cooler, I was stuck between the H100i and the Phanteks PH-TC14PE. Somewhat worried about clearance and the H100i has a better fit with the airflow I'm going for. (Sorry, I can't stand to look at Noctua parts.)

Other:
- Storage, 512GB SSD is a lot, yes, I know. I'd also considered grabbing 2x1TB HDDs in raid 1.
- Price, obviously I'd like to get the price down as much as possible, but this is currently within budget.

Solution
I agree with tiny voices, the case is fantastic. I use it myself. Its silent, sturdy and looks great. I made some changes to save you some cash. Cheaper mobo, ram, and cpu cooler. Let me know what you think.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($336.74 @ SuperBiiz)
CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock 3 113.8 CFM Fluid Dynamic Bearing CPU Cooler ($49.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: ASRock Fatal1ty Z97X Killer ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($119.99 @ Micro Center)
Memory: Mushkin Stealth 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($142.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Crucial MX100 512GB 2.5" Solid State Drive...
I personally would get an air cooler over the H100i. Cooler, quieter, cheaper.

The Case is VERY good and one i strongly recommend.

The build looks good.

To save money and lose no performance:
-get 250gb SSD
-get a single gtx980
-get a cheaper motherboard for sure.

SSD: I'm not sure if 250gb is really enough. I gobble up program space, not that it all needs to go on the SSD.

Will a 980 really be able to drive ultra settings @ 1440p 120/144Hz? 970 SLI just seems like a much better bang for buck value.

An air cooler does seem like the better choice now. I keep seeing that 'be quiet! Dark Rock 3' cooler pop up every once in a while, just did a bit more research on it and it seems like a very good choice.

Motherboard. Agree, mine's a bit expensive but I love the look. Time to look into these again.

Hi there,

did you buy your pc already?

I'm looking at more or less the same build.
- I love the fractal R4.
- For CPU cooler i was considering the swiftech 220x but that's a lot more expensive then the aircooler or corsair BUT more quiet, and that's what you want for this pc.
- Personally i would opt for one single GTX 980, gives me the opportunity to go sli in the future.
- As for powersupply i was thinking a platinum 650W, also in the persuit of quietness.
Last change, a barracuda green drive, again for the silence sake of things.

To my reckoning that makes my rig so quiet i could throw it at someones head and he/she would never know what's coming :)

Care to share your impressions on the fractal R4?

As for the
