Hello, experts. I'm here again with a new question. My new system has a XFX R9 270X graphics card. I also have Corsair VS 650 psu for power supply. Now I want to buy a Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3 Motherboard
and a AMD FX 9370 processor. Also I want to upgrade my RAM up to 8 GB (I have 6 GB now). My question is, can I power up all these to play Ultra high quality games?????thanks in advance.

More about : buy 270x 9370 pls

I would personally say get a FX-8350 and just overclock it yourself to the speed of the FX-9370. The FX-9370 is basically an overclocked version of ghr FX-8350 if I am not mistaken.

And don't forget if you do prefer the FX-9370, it will overheat a lot. And you will need throw in some cash for a CPU cooler.

DO NOT get the FX9370. It is just a overclocked FX 8350 with a nightmarish thermal threshold(with BARELY better performance). Get the FX 8350/8320/8370E and cooler and overclock it yourself.

You will need a better graphics card to do "Ultra high quality games". Try for a GTX970.

What is your complete budget? Where are you purchasing? Online store? Link?

You are better off with an 8320/8350/8370E

Or just swap to intel, 4690k and a nice Z97 motherboard

I think more people are looking at 9370's because their prices have just dropped. But to run them you need a more expensive 220W capable motherboards and a very good CPU cooler. These more than cancel out any price drops.

AMD also released a new FX8370 and its lower powered cousin the FX8370E. I would highly recommend you using these CPUs instead. And make sure you have a good 990fx motherboard.

Dont buy a heater ! AMD FX 9370 is 220W . FX 8350 -125W .

Get an fx-8xxx series chip. I wouldnt try too much overclocking on that psu or run a 9370 on that psu.

In my opinion, I would change the CPU to a FX-8350 and get a CPU cooler. And then change the PSU a to a one from tier 1-2 (link to the PSU tier list will be listed below).

The VS 650 can provide enough power. But its not a very good quality power supply.

Try and base your build on this :

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor ($98.98 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Biostar TA970 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($59.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: Asus Radeon R9 280X 3GB DirectCU II Video Card ($237.30 @ Newegg)
Total: $396.27
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available
Generated by PCPartPicker 2014-10-07 06:56 EDT-0400

If there is money left, get a GTX970 or FX-8320, depending on what you can afford.

Your PSU is sufficient but it's not a good one if you plan to overclock. And I also wouldn't recommend a the VS, it is a tier 3. I would always recommend a tier 1-2.

You can see on the CPU Support List - http://www.gigabyte.com.au/products/product-page.aspx?p... - that your motherboard doesn't support the fx9370 anyway. Bios won't let it work.

But i7baby , I have a mobo......Gigabyte H61M-S2P which supports LGA1155, so can I buy an i7-3770k processor as it supports LGA 1155??? Will my Corsair VS650 psu be able to power it up???

The thread is about the AMD CPU, so we will go along with it.

But I had rather get a FX instead of an i7 if you are only gaming and not editing.

for gaming 3570K is enough . Moreover it is unlocked, you may overclock it ! i5 3570K can feed even GTX Titan !

Edit : Try with your mobo . If you were not pleased, ypu could get a new Z77 mobo . VS 650 is enough . It has 50A on +12V rails =600W and two 6+2 pin power connectors .
