I've had a Radeon HD 7870 (Factory overclocked) GPU for a while now.

A problem I've been having lately, is that horizontal blue stripes and/or flickering dots appear on my screen (mostly in black colours).

I did some research on the net, and seems this is a common issue with this card, some kind of fabricage mistake.

I read before that this could be caused by an underpowered GPU.
My card requires 500V but I have a power supply of 450V.

Anyhow, when I replug my VDI screen cable, the problem is fixed.
When I take a screenshot of the blue stripes, it does not show them on that screenshot. I am guessing the problem is rather in my monitor then?

I tried a different cable, but the same issue occurs, and when I replug it, it also often fixes the problem.

What do you think?

Is the problem my GPU, my power supply, my VDI cable, my monitor?
I highly doubt it's either my card or power supply, otherwise replugging the cable wouldn't work, would it?

Thanks in advance!

try using a different monitor/T.V. (Use multiple cables, not just one!)

if it still appears, it is a problem with the graphics card

if it doesn't appear it is a problem with the monitor.

It may be because of a defective GPU, bad drivers, defective dvi/vga cables or defective monitor.

remove the GPU and boot your pc without it if you still get the stripes then its the monitor.
