My laptop slowed down because of torrent or am i wrong?

So since when i started using ethernet cable to my laptop not wifi anymore i used to use only wifi in downloading torrent but then i transferred to a far room from the router so my mom bought a long ethernet cable so i won't use wifi anymore then i installed the driver of my ethernet which is Killer Network Manager then i downloaded a torrent and left my laptop on till i woke up at 10 am my laptop freeze then my laptop slowed down and i used system restore and it came back to normal then i tried the torrent again it slowed my laptop down again how can i fix this? Help me please!

Yes, when i try to download something it slows down my laptop

First you shouldn't be downloading torrents
Second if that is the only change then yes, it is most likely the cause of the slowdown. I would check for viruses after the download is complete. Also after the download is finished, shutdown you laptop so that it has time to recover from downloading a huge file. After you have waited a few hours then see if it happens. If it does scan for viruses.

After you have done this let me know what happens.
