Hi!
I am looking into updating my CPU as I feel it's about time. I'm upgrading from my old i3 4130 to an i7 4790. My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-H81M-DS2 (rev 2.0)
I have updated my BIOS so that my motherboard is compatible with the new CPU (BIOS version is FD)
It's my first time replacing a CPU. Am I all good to go ahead and purchase the CPU? Do need to uninstall anything from my last processor? When I put in the new processor and boot up my PC what will happen? Will it just boot up as normal? Do I need to install anything once the new CPU is in?

Thanks Guys!

Do you need all the power of an i7? Other than that, you're good to go :)  Just drop the new CPU in and have fun.

You'll probably need some thermal compound remover and iso propyle alcohol to clean the old thermal compound on your i3 prior to storing it in a safe place.

When you put the new cpu it'll boot up and you'll see a new message saying a new cpu detected press F1 for installation , you press F1 and it'll install itself automatically .

Everything should be back to normal after that.
