Having problems with my new core i7 4790K
Had planned on a decent OC however got this at stock with a corsair H100i cooler. Motherboard is an Asus Ranger VII. Have reseated cooler several times using a pea sized amount of Akasa 455 thermal compound. See below image.

Could be a faulty pump on the H100i. That was quite common some time ago, you may have gotten an older unit.

Try the Intel stock cooler and check temps.

Is there any way to fault find these that you are aware of? According to corair link the pump is running at 2255 rpm. There is some heat in the pipes going to the radiator but under load it does not seem to change nor does the heat sink temperature itself.

You sure that is the pump reading? LOL

2255rpm on a pump would be uhm, extreme, to say the least.

You did reapply thermal paste when you reseated right?

And no, there is no way to know if the pump is faulty unfortunately without voiding the H100is warranty.
