Hello,

I'm going to buy myself a new monitor since my current one is utter garbage.
I'm stuck between two monitor and I can't figure out which to go with.
My choices are:

Samsung S24D390HL with PLS panel and 5ms response time 159€

or

Samsung S24D300H with TN panel but 2ms response time 139€
http://www.samsung.com/levant/consumer/computers-peripherals/monitors/led-monitor/LS24D300HS/ZN

I'm using a GTX 770, which, for me, is a powerful card and should get the best looks out of any Full HD monitor. Such as full range 0-255 RGB settings, which Nvidia provides.
Now the thing is that the TN panel one is about 20€ cheaper and some say that the 2ms response time does make a difference compared to the 5ms, is that true? I use my computer for web building, web surfing, watching movies, some video editing/encoding and regular gaming.

So my overall question would be - is the PLS panel worth the extra 20€?
Or are both of these monitors garbage and I should get another one in the price range?

All opinions are welcome, thank you for your time.

"Regular gaming" is okay with a 5ms panel. OTOH, the screen with PLS will look much better and the color reproduction will be more realistic with a very wide viewing angle! Get the PLS!

this is something that is unique to each individual. for me, I am more sensitive to color inaccuracy than response time. you can show me monitors with 1ms at 144 fps and a monitor at 8ms and 60 fps and I won't be able to tell the difference at all (believe me, I have tried). on the other hand, I can spot color inaccuracies between monitors from like 50 feet away.

Now how that works for yourself could be completely different. do you ever feel like your monitor is "lagging" behind your mouse when you play? if so then get the TN panel. On the other hand, PLS offers better color accuracy. if you get a chance, walk into a best-buy, and look at the two types of panels yourself.

Thank you both, I will go with the PLS monitor, since I really really don't get the big hype with FPS in games, since for me even 45fps and 60fps doesn't make a big difference. Although I really enjoy deep colors and nice contrast. So I am pretty sure that color accuracy is much more important to me.
So I'll just stop considering saving 20€ (lol) and buy the better one for me! My gaming usually goes around 50-70 fps anyway so I don't believe I could tell a difference between 2ms and 5ms response times.

Have a nice day!
