Hey guys!

asrock 970 pro3 r2.0
AMD FX-8350 4.00GHz AM3+ BOX
GIGABYTE GV-R928XOC-3GD R9 280X 3GB GDDR5 PCIE
CHIEFTEC GPS-700A8 700W
in a COOLERMASTER RC-K282-KKN1

Now to begin with, I have very high CPU temp when i am playing games, it goes up to 80 Celsius.

I took off the side of the case, and it went down 20 Celsius, peaks at 65-66 max, which isn't that bad compared to 80. The problem is that I don't really want it off, too much dust.

The KKN1 case has a front ventilator and one at on the back.

I considered these options:
1.Buy new ventilators for the case, idk what kind of they put in, maybe their performance is not enough.
2. Buy a ventilator for the side of case, which will cool the GPU so I guess less heat towards the CPU.
3. Buy an other cooler for the CPU with better performance than the stock. I was thinking about this: ARCTIC COOLING Freezer A30, I just don't know if it fits or not.

The new CPU cooler is the best choice.

AMD AM3+/AM3/AM2+/AM2/FM2/FM1

Cooler should fit ^

Start with option 3 and see if that fixes it. I'm at work so I can't look into your case specs but I'm sure you can find an aftermarket cooler that will fit.

The temps dropping drastically when you remove the side panel suggests to me that there's a heat dissipation issue and options on that case are not great :(  All you can really do is install 3 high performance 120mm fans.

Did you overclocked your FX-8350? if it does, you should have after-market cooling system.
Your Gigabyte (windforce) graphics card also exhaust a lot of heat.. you can feel hot temp exhaust from inside your case if its closed, two ventilating may not be enough.

Try look at the Corsair Case fans High performance edition SP120 or Noctua fans..

as has been said, and what I totally agree with, is that your case doesn't have enough airflow, your graphics card is just dumping heat into your case and your cpu cooler is trying to cool your chip with hot air. amd's stock cpu coolers are incredibly bad. worth noting however is the fact that your cpu being at 80'c WILL NOT damage it, the only real reason to upgrade is overclocking (I don't remember, but if that graphics card supports 'boost' high ambient temps will *slightly* lower gpu performance)

It's not overclocked.

I guess it's gonna be a new cpu cooler with a case side ventilator. Sure I feel the hot air coming out from it.

I would normally suggest an aftermarket cpu cooler like the $30 cm hyper212.

But, your case is an unfortunate one for providing sufficient intake air to cool anything.
That is evidenced by the good results you got from taking the side covers off.

Some options:

1. Buy a high cfm 120mm intake fan. This will run at high rpm and be very noisy, but it will do the job.
One should cost about $20.
Here is one:
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/8125/fan-499/Delta_12...

I would not add a fan to the side if you want a clean case. It will draw in dust if it is not behind a filter.

2. Step up to a better cooling case. Look for one with two 120mm or larger intake fans behind a washable filter.
That gives you a positive pressure cooling arrangement that will keep your case cleaner.
$50 should buy you one.
Here is one example Antec GX500 illusion, $40 after a $20 rebate:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

I don't think a liquid cooler will work well. They also require cool air for the radiator and you have few enough intake places for one to work well.
Plus, they tend to be $50 and more.

The A30 will have 1mm of clearance by the way and if you did put a fan on the side panel, it wouldn't fit at all, the A30 is also the same size and around the same level of performance as a Hyper 212 Evo. Maybe you could look at 2 Noctua P14r fans (which are 140mm fans with 120mm mounts and a high CFM and low noise), have one as front intake and one as a rear exhaust and then you might get away with that 1mm clearance you'll have with an A30 or Hyper 212 Evo

Thanks for the suggestions. That case looks fine and fairly cheap. Gonna be in my plans to change my case.

How do I change the front fan? I can't open the front of the case, and its between the front and the HDD rack.

Thank you for the information. Which cooler you guys recommend? A30 or Hyper 212 evo?

if its stuck like that, you cant change it out.. your better off getting the new case, pro tip! never cheap out on the case, because your gonna end up using it again and again, same goes for powersupplies

your best bet IMO is a new case, ofcourse if you can get a case and a cooler go with either one, whichever is cheaper as performance is similar

The Hyper 212 evo is slightly cheaper but it will literally be right up against your side panel. I think Panda made the best recommendation in just getting a new case with fans already installed for good airflow.

I want a cooler anyway, cuz the fan what came with the processor is very loud, so a less noisy due to lower RPM, better cooler fan is the way for me.

Ofc with a new case.

trust me and get a new case and cpu cooler, just buying a new cpu cooler will not improve your problem ***your trying to cool a cpu with hot air*** it just aint gonna work, that's why you need a good case,

replied before edit, was unclear at first what you meant! still, get the best case that fits your budget/available floor/desk/whatever space

I do not have experience with that case. But, I would be highly surprised if a front fan can not be replaced.
Usually, removing the front case panel will expose the fan mounting screws.

Well personally, I've never owned a Hyper 212 Evo but I would recommend the Freezer A30 anyday, it's really really quiet, easy to mount and cheap enough, the only reason that I got rid of it is because it covered 2 of my RAM slots.

Thanks everyone who discussed this with me, and for the suggestions! Can I pick more than one "as the solution"? Or should I report back when I get my new case and cooler.

Aside from clearances between fans and casing, you may wanna take a look at your motherboard pertaining to fan headers:
- 2 x CPU Fan connectors (1 x 4-pin, 1 x 3-pin)
- 2 x Chassis Fan connectors (1 x 4-pin, 1 x 3-pin)
- and one for Power Fan connector (3-pin)

If you have this limited fan headers, choosing a well ventilated chassis is really the best option. You may have to get cable splitters if you plan to add more case fans. :)
