Hello all, i haven't posted in forever, been busy with school and life, and well, gaming on this computer i amased over the years for free. well, the other day i got basically a whole new setup. got a new mobo, cpu and needed ram. so heres my system specs
windows 8.1 :p
mobo biostar ta890gxb hd
cpu amd 640
ram 4gb pc3-8600 patriot (2x2GB)
psu 700 watt idk brand off top of my head
gpu GTX 480
tons of hd space like 3TB in total
and lots of fans. heres the cpu cooler i got with my first craigslist computer that i've ghettorigged a better fan on http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835185125

i'm using TOVERCLOCKER to get an accurate cpu temp, and playing call of duty ghosts on average settings, shadows, normal textures, the 480 is hitting 93 on the core and 69(in C) according to open hardware monitor.

also have a few questions, do you think that my 640 is bottlenecking the 480? i dont know much about bottle necking honestly, however i can build a computer in my sleep. anyways, thanks for reading, i can post pictures later, im getting ready for work, but my case is a raidmax smilodon, like i said, i got all this stuff for free, spent years acquiring everything. last system had a 4600+, so this 640 is amazing to me.

almost forgot, acording to open hardware monitor i was using 98% of the 480, so thats good right?

Solution
If you get near 100% on gpu usage its not bottlenecking, but the 480 is quite hot, download msi Afterburner and set the fans to max speed to see if it improves.
The GPU is a tad hot, I would like to keep it under 80 degree max.

"think that my 640 is bottlenecking the 480? " ==> depends on game and resolution you are playing.

The cpu and gpu are getting outdated for modern gaming

"almost forgot, acording to open hardware monitor i was using 98% of the 480, so thats good right?"
that's ok but what about cpu usage ?

i had this issue on my previos system with the gpu getting super hot, so i decided to reapply the thermal paste, didn't help too much. i have afterbunrer installed right now, gonna track the fan speed some to see if that'd help, and its possible that ohm isn't reading the temps correctly too. i'll keep everyone posted on this. thank you for responding, and good to know im not bottle necking, i thought i wasn't but as i learned today, i dont know everything. (been guessing on whats wrong with my car, now im $300 in the whole and no running vehicle......
