So i am thinking of jumping into PC gaming and i am spending a lot on my PC but that means i will have to use an older monitor which is only 720p. That is the problem. I just wanted to know will battlefield 4 at ultra settings with everything maxed out at 720p be decent in comparison to 1080p at high-ultra settings
Thanks for the help and i love the tom's hardware community

This really depends. What CPU, GPU, and PSU are you installing?

You will need a decent GPU to play on Ultra...

Not to me but i am very accustomed to 1080p and the drop to 720p is very noticeable. That said im sure it will look much better than consoles if thats what your used to.

The CPU is an AMD X4 750K
GPU AMD R9 280x
PSU Corsair VS 650

The GPU i want to get is the 280X but should I sacrifice that for the 270X to and get a 1080p monitor? i have been thinking about this for a very long time

I wouldn't sacrifice the card for a monitor... upgrade the monitor later on.

280x shouldn't have any problem with 720p, not even with the highest AA setting in game.

Yes i agree dont get the 270 get the 280 now and deal with 720p for the time being until you can save up for a 1080p monitor.

I would wait.

I originally thought you already had a 720p monitor ready to use. If you don't have any monitor at all, just hold off another month or two until you can get the 1080p monitor.

If you do not want to wait, get another GPU with a 1080p monitor.

I do have a 720p monitor ready to go

Perfect! Game at 720p for now. When you save enough money for a 1080p get it.

The 280x is a very nice card.

One quick question for you. Which 280x do you plan on getting?
