Can somebody recommend a good USB Wifi adapter for a gaming PC?

Greetings,
I have been considering lately getting a USB wifi adapter for my main PC, which I also use for gaming and lots of downloading.
Doing this gets me rid of eight wires total (ethernet and power) because I'll be moving the modem, router and a phone which works via the internet to a different place in the room.
So in the end of it the router is going to be 7-10 meters away from the computer.
So the question is, will any 150mbps wifi adapter do it for me? or do I need to spend some extra money on something better?

I recently got an ASUS USB-N53 Dual Band (2.4GHz 300Mbps/5GHz 300Mbps) Wireless-N USB Adapter

Seems to work, connection speeds are great, and you can get a USB extension cable to move it around if you like.

Given the fact you'll be in the same room and not far from the router, pretty much any adapter will work. If your router supports dual band (2.4/5Ghz) I'd go with a dual band adapter. Otherwise any N capable adapter will do. Stick with name brands you know and you'll be fine.

I would never use usb wifi adapters again, I got a 150 mbps for my pc and I was getting 2 mbps despite the fact I have a 100 mbps connection. LAN ethernet cables are the best.

Everyone's experience is different. Wireless can be very tricky at times.

For my adapter mentioned above, I had a full 300Mbps connection and no issues. Putting a few walls inbetween my computer and the router may have different results.

Yes a wired connection is optimal, but actually having one is not.

Buy a wifi adapter from a place that has a good return policy. Compare is use to using a Ethernet cable to see if there is a noticeable difference. If the wifi is acceptable then keep it, if the problems others have mentioned affect you, then return it and try another.

I use both types of connections at home but avoid wifi when I can use a wired connection, such as for non-mobile computers and entertainment centers. There are certainly places for both.
