Hello everyone,

I am trying to get my old pc to connect to my router and for that am using a wireless usb adapter which use a 811.2g driver (that's what i saw in the device manager under network adapter)

After connecting the device, i get a new tray icon which can show the available wifi spots, i can see my router, and i can connect to it (the wireless barrs of windows are full and set to connected)

However when i open the browser the internet doesn't work at all, i don't know if this help or not but when i tried typing ipconfig in the command prompt, it says that my IP is 0.0.0.0
That's weird right ?

The Pc is kinda old and am using windowsXp Sp3

Thank you

go to control panel, network connections, your specific adapter, select IPv4, hit properties, make sure you have automatic ip address and automatic dns selected.

If that was already on automatic:
type ipconfig /release
then type ipconfig /renew
then see if it gives you a proper IP address

Do you have default settings in your router or is there mac filtering or dhcp turned off?

Do check your driver as suggested because that is a weird IP address to get if your router or network card IP settings were not messed up
