I've been having this issue for a while now and I have searched far and wide on the internet trying to solve it.

My laptop, a Toshiba Satellite, is able to achieve speeds of 90mbps upload speeds, but the download speed is only able to reach about 15mbps. My fiance has a MacBook Pro which is able to achieve speeds of up to 90mbps up and down. I've tested my laptop both wired and wirelessly and the speed is about the same either way. What is wrong with my computer? It clearly isn't a problem with the network adapters or the router so what could be causing this to happen? Again, I'm using a Toshiba Satellite model-C855D-S5116, running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. Already tested the network adapters (wired and wireless) and already spent an hour on the phone with Verizon (I have FIOS) making sure there are no problems on their end or with my router. PLEASE HELP ME!

UPDATE:

I found a solution on another post here http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2151291/internet-speed-download-speed-slow-computer.html. I had a program called AMD Quick Stream that was apparently causing the problem. Before I uninstalled it, I was getting 1.5 mbps, now I'm getting 25 mbps. So if anyone ever has this problem, this might help! Spread the word!

there shouldn't be any problem on your router, but

just try to remove your wifi connection in control panel<network and sharing centre<mange wireless network,, than jus remove it and add again.

hope that will help.

I tried that already, too. Like I said, I have the same problem with the wireless connection AND wired, so the problem isn't related to the adapters. Also, not the router, not Verizon, and I run regular virus scans and malware checks.. Something is wrong with my computer and I don't know what it is.

It could be 2 things.

1. Your ISP. It could be that the amount that they allow you to download is limited. This will depend on the plan you have.
2. Your wifi module. Sometimes the wifi module may not be that good. The macbook pro has a very good wifi module which can detect the router from a good distance. It also supports the newer ac standard. What bands does your wifi module support?

I know it isn't my ISP, they don't limit the amount I download and I already checked with them. Everything is fine on their end.

I've tried connecting with an ethernet cable and the speeds DO NOT change from wireless. This means that either both adapters are messed up or the problem has nothing to do with my adapters or their drivers (all drivers are up to date).

I've performed full virus and malware scans. I do this regularly.

I reformatted my laptop about a month ago, but I was having this problem before that so I don't think a reformat will help this situation.

Any other ideas?
