Hi, I've been confused a lot for upgrading my pc. Presently i've I3-2100@3.1GHz with intel DH61WW motherboard. Now i want to update with 4th gen i5 processor and a good MB.First i think of I5 4670k den 4690k den 4430k etc.., with a MB Asus z87-a.
But local vendor is saying about Intel DH87MC, i54690.

I want some suggestions on board as well as cpu.K series processors are unlocked & for overclock but i don't know whats dat and how to do it bcz i didn't do with my present i3-2100..

I've zotac nvidia 650ti gpu, vid dis which cpu & MB will u suggest ???

Im going to buy a Cooler master K380 Cabinet too..
is dis one is good, i mean will fit my gpu and new board good????

Thanks for ur suggestions...

I also have that mobo, its has a 1155 socket, 4th gen cpus are 1150, thats why you need another motherboard for those, you can put third gen cpus on that motherboard, this is the best that you can get:

http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=I5-3570BOX&c=C...

There is no much difference between 3rd gen and 4th gen cpus. You'll also need a bios update to use that cpu.

They suggested to keep your current board.

However, if you want to upgrade both:

I5 4590
h97 asrock extreme 3/4

would do fine. If you want a bit more, for just $50 extra you can get a xeon (I7) e3-1231v3. It has hyperthreading and is basically the same as the I7 4790 without the integrated graphics (which you dont use anyway).

Yeah, they are compatible and the gpu will work too.
But you should get a z97 board, z87 is the older generation and not cheaper at all. If you like the z87-a, you can get the z97-a.

Can u explain me the difference is major??
Im going with z87-a because its popular than z97-a. its due to z97 is newer one but i dont want to risk, i mean going with old (not much older i think) and good one.....
R u sure will my present gpu will works on newer processor & mb???
Thanks...

Yes, the gpu works with them for sure.
If you want to go safe, go with the z97-a, not with the z87-a. The z87 board will need a BIOS update to work with the I5 4690k, the z97 will definitely work before. There is really no downside to the z97.
It's same price, faster, supports newer technologies and is designed for devils canyon. It will also work with broadwell, the z87 won't.

The board is great for oc'ing. And you should generally overclock via bios, don't use third party tools or whatever else. Just make sure you have a nice cpu cooler to keep your cpu cool. Use Prime95/Intel Burn Test for stability testing.
