You can't outright say that one is better than the other. It depends on each card, and everyone has their favorite.

That said, NVIDIA has the better architecture with Maxwell.

The 290 and 290X have been made obsolete by the 970, but AMD has good value with the 280 and 280X, as well as many of their lower spec cards.

very vague question. Both have their advantages and weaknesses.

To be put simply - AMD tends to be better value for what you get. Similarly priced AMD cards to Nvidia tend to usually be better (not always the case)

Nvidia tends to have the best game support, and better features (G-Sync, 3D is far better)
