Hi, I just built an I7-4960X 3.6mhz and when overclocking, the system runs FSX like a champ OC'd to 4600mhz but if I try to run it at 4700, I cant get past the bios setup screen. I have updated the bios and my temps seem fine. I have lowered the voltage but cant seem to run over 4600 under any circumstances.
You guys are the experts here. Help a guy out! :)
Thanks in advance!
W

If lowering the voltage doesn't work, up the voltage. CPU needs more voltage for higher speeds, don't go over 1.35V.

OK, I ran it up to 1.345v and was able to achieve 4700mhz.
Tried 1.345v and 1.35v but couldnt get 4800.
Ideas?

If temps are ok (under 80C) on stress testing, you may try for 4.8GHz with the least stable VCore possible, I'd rather not take it beyond 1.35V.

OK, I'll try that thank you.
On the Ram side, I am running 4 4gb corsair vengance 1600mhz ddr3. Is it faster to run 4 32gb for better cooling or otherwise? Will this MOBO support 1 stick of ram?

Adding RAM won't result in better cooling, and the MoBo supports 1 stick of RAM. I'd OC the RAM to get the best OC out of the CPU, DRAM freq and CPU base clock are related.

What does it mean "with the least stable Vcore?" Can I individually tune them?

Vcore is same as voltage, no you can't. I meant the least stable Voltage.

Oh, I see. Thanks
On the Ram. What do you think?

OC it a bit, there are tons of guides available, maybe you can get another 100Mhz on CPU off it.
