I would make it a custom loop with EK components. Just search your hardware on their site and it will list the compatible blocks. I would also recommend at least a 360mm high performance radiator. EK's CoolStream PE series is very good. I have one myself and it works fantastic.

A custom loop will be able to accommodate a quiet preference or performance preference depending on how you set the fans. By far your best option. You could probably build the whole thing for under $400 as well. I did both my CPU and GPU on a custom loop for about $350 (full EK loop except for the reservoir).

Yes you can cool anything you want. G1/4 fittings are the standard thread size. You can get different fittings sizes for tubing though. I personally like the larger tubing as the pressure head doesn't decrease as much as with smaller tubing (although the amount of change is almost negligible for most loops). You can pick whatever tubing size you want though.

I personally would recommend compression fittings. They are cleaner looking and you don't need an extra piece to tighten them like you do barb fittings. I used 3/8 ID 5/8 OD on my tubing with corresponding fittings (I bought the black EK compression fittings).

Here is a close up pic of the fittings and tubing going into my CPU water block.

Go with something like PrimoChill PrimoFlex™ Advanced LRT™ 13/10mm as this is used by EK in the kit and connectors for the Ares like the kit EK-CSQ Fitting 13/10mm - G1/4 Nickel

If you have never built a Loop system, go with the kit as it will get you everything you need. You just have to add the 2 other parts and you are in great shape.

Then if this build works good on the next one, you can go crazy and do a custom...
