Ok so i have been looking for a good gaming laptop but have realized that it is cheaper to just build your own pc. I am new to this sort of thing so i dont know what components to buy. I am looking to build a pc good enough to play games like ArmA 3 on ultra settings so what components should i buy?

Yeah you don't want to get a laptop for gaming, not only is it worst performance but also more expensive and harder to upgrade.
In order to help you, you need to answer a few questions:

1. Which country do you live (so I know which websites to link you to)
2. What is your maximum budget?
3. What sort of build do you want (Medium, High or Extreme)
4. Will it just be for gaming, or graphic design and other stuff?
5. Do you need peripherals such as keyboard/mouse or monitor?
6. What other games are you looking to play?

Ok, I'm sorry, just find it annoying to see that I've started helping this guy and someone else jumps in and uses all the information I collected. I don't see that a valid reason to get banned, I'm trying to help?!?! But ok, I apologise....
