Hi,
I have a problem with Asus p5q3 MB & Kingston hx316c10fbk2/8 RAM compatibility. After inserting new memory the screen stays black, MB gives no signals and nothing works. I've tried to update BIOS to v. 1102, tried other slots, but nothing happened. System is Win 7 x64 and I've found that this RAM should be compatible. Does anybody have any idea? Thanks. Dan

The ram is not on Asus's Qualified Vendors List fwiw.

Did you have ram in the system that did work?

Yes, I have tested it on two different systems and it worked OK.
My RAM is hx316c10fbk2/8 (i.e. kit of two 4GB)

I have found the compatibility here:

Back when your board was built DDR3 RAM ran at 1.8 volts

It may be possible to set your BIOS to give more voltage to the RAM you have . That may make the system run .
It might also fry the RAM [ not likely ] , and it might do nothing at all

Maybe try manually at 1.65 volts . That should be definitely safe for the RAM

Bios with the old RAM , save the voltage setting . Turn off . Swap RAM Boot

Hi Dan,
I'm Jewel with Kingston Technical Support and would like to offer our assistance. The HyperX Fury RAM and any of our currently manufactured memory is not compatible with you system. our currently manufactured 4GB modules are high density/single rank. Boiling this down it means the memory is made with the same DRAM chips that an 8GB module is made with but half as many to equal the 4GB capacity. The DRAM chips used are only supported by Intel chipsets that are 6-series or later and their associated processors. Your motherboard is an Intel 4 series chipset and cannot communicate properly with the high density memory. Usually what happens is the BIOS will POST but then once Windows starts to load it will freeze or crash due to not being able to fully communicate with the RAM. There are a few discontinued part numbers you may still be able to find that are compatible with your system such as KVR1333D3N9/4G, KVR1333D3N9H/4G and KVR1333D3N9K2/8G. I recommend returning the memory to your place of purchase as it is not compatible, if you are unable to return it please contact us and we will do our best to work with you. For further assistance, please call us at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and I or another available Technician will assist you. If you are outside of the USA and Canada, please check for your region's contact information here: http://www.kingston.com/us/company/contacts

Thank you for selecting Kingston as your upgrade partner.
