I recently built my first computer with the "Asus Z87-PRO" motherboard and "Kingston HyperX 16GB DDR3 - 1866Mhz 240 pin" RAM. When I boot the computer I get a message that says "Overclocking Failed! Enter Setup to Reconfigure Settings" I believe the problem might be caused from incompatible RAM, but I'm not sure. Any ideas?

Are you using 4x4GB or 2x8GB? If you're using 2x8GB you may want to check that they are in the right slots because that motherboard is a dual channel board, check your manual to find which slots to use. But either way they should be compatible with your motherboard.

1) Verify your DDR3 memory is in the correct slots (probably #2 and #4) from the motherboard manual.

2) Update the BIOS if it's not the latest using "USB BIOS FLASHBACK" (see manual)

3) Set BIOS to "XMP" and save

4) If unsuccessful, use "AUTO" instead

5) If still stuck I'd contact Asus

BIOS info of latest:

"Z87-PRO BIOS 2103 and BIOS updater
1.Fixed 4T HDD not detect in IDE mode.
2.Optimize overclocking function"

*In particular note the comment about overclocking. Perhaps there's an issue that a BIOS update (version 2103) will fix. They also recommend using USB BIOS FLASHBACK if you have new 4th gen Haswell CPU's (probably the Haswell refresh like the i5-4690K).
