Okay, so I have been doing a lot of research on building my first gaming computer (I was completely new to this 2 weeks ago). Anyways I am pretty set on using the AMD FX-8320 for my CPU. However, I'm having some problems now on which motherboard to use. I have it down between:

1.) ASUS M5A97 r2.0
2.) Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3

From what I've read, both are very reliable boards. I'm just not sure if I should go with the Gigabyte, or save money with ASUS (maybe spend on a better graphics card).

Notes:
I will probably OC my CPU to ~4-4.2 Ghz.
Buying a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
I'm open to other mobo suggestions

Thanks!

the second . it has 8+2 phase power design and SLI/Crossfire support

the second PCI-E slot of the Asus is x16 but runs at x4 . Thus not supporting SLI .The GA is x8/x8 SLI .

chipset 990FX is faster than chipset 970 - 10%

Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 < Make sure this board is Revision 4 , because the others have thermal issues.

The UD3P is the best deal on a 970 board that supports the FX8320 and 8350.

10% faster north bridge - chipset 990FX
full support of SLI , the 970 doesnt support SLI cus x8/x4 (of 970 ) is not supported by NVidia
