Hey guys, my HTPC has an ASUS M2N68-LA motherboard, a pull from a Compaq Presario.

It currently has a WD 750gb Blue drive in it, and I wanted to add an Intel SSD 330 I had lying around for a faster boot time + more reliable.

Upon putting it in and booting up the system, it hangs. It can hang on any part of POST. It can hang on mem test, it can hang on getting USB devices, it can hang before or after SATA controller init, or it can go through perfectly fine.

When I first put it in I could get an OS onto it, Windows 7, but upon entering the OS it would freeze and force reboot randomly. It couldnt happen during boot, or it could last for hours. Eventually it just stopped booting up, it would just hang on a black screen. I plugged the drive into my main rig and all the data was there. I tried reinstalling and Windows setup cant even find the drive.

The SSD has never been used, and was just a spare for my main rig. It works perfectly fine in every other system.

I have looked into the BIOS (Ctrl+F10 'hidden' BIOS in these HP's, when it wouldnt freeze) and everything checks off fine there, SMART says its OK etc.

I checked in with HP support forums, since it is an HP part, but I pretty much just got the finger with 'SATA 3 doesnt work on SATA 2 boards' and various other bullshit excuses, so I just said 'thanks' and left.

Help would be appreciated.
