I'm currently running two ATI 5790 hds in crossfire they each require a 6 and 6+2 pin connector, however I want to swap them for one EVGA GTX 770 classified which basically requires two 8 pin connectors.

My question is I have two 6+2 pin connectors but they are on different wires used for the two older cards is it ok to use the 6+2 pin connectors on the separate wires to power the card or must the connectors be on the same wire which connects to the PSU?

Yes, perfectly fine. In fact, it is recommended to use connectors from separate wires when you power up a really power hungry card like 295X2.

You are good.
Virtually all power supplies have a single power rail.
A psu is designed to deliver full power to all the connectors it has at the same time.
A 6 pin connector can deliver 75w, a 8 pin can deliver 150w.

Just use your two 6+2 connectors.
