Hey Guys,

Which is better for gaming and overall PC performance? This is my current setup:

AMD A4-5300
Sapphire R7 250X 1GB DDR5
Gigabyte GA-F2A55M-DS2
4GB RAM
Seagate 250GB + 500GB HDD
Ovation P4-600 (450W true rated) PSU

Checking the reviews and searching the web, I always see that the i3 3220 is far more superior than my current A4 5300. I play games like LOL, Crysis 2, Far Cry 3, MGR Revengeance and Battlefield 4. I know that I will have to buy a new motherboard if I decide to switch to the i3 and it's not an issue for me.

The question is this: Is it worth it to switch to i3 3220 given my current set-up? Will my PC perform better?

It will be a huge upgrade. Do you have a specific budget for this upgrade?

I do not have a specific budget. The i3 + motherboard is just being offered at a low price so it got me curious.

Thank you for the suggestion. But as of now, only the i3 is available. And at a very low price, it got me thinking if it is worth it to make the switch. Given the other specs of my PC, will the new proc + mobo be compatible?

Yeah, it will be compatible, but you'll need to perform a fresh windows install.
