Hey everyone, im new here. I just ran into a bit of an issue with my laptop. I got it almost 2 years ago, with windows 8 pre-installed. when 8.1 cam out, I did it... why not? well, now (about a year after that 8.1 update) I decided I wanted to wipe it clean again and properly set it up (getting all windows updates, create n image, install and update my software, and create another image), but when it got about half way through the reset, I got an error. I cant remember EXACTLY what it was, but it was something along the lines of a version mismatch... very short prompt. I tried again and it said the same thing, but I gave up trying again (day before yesterday) because it takes hours to get that prompt. If I try to just boot, not it shows the acer logo, and says preparing automatic repair. a few seconds after the little loding circles pop up, it goes blue, saying "choose an option: continue to windows 8.1, troubleshoot, and turn off" continue goes back to the auto repair crap and brings me back to the option page.it cant refresh my pc, I explained it wont reset either.. I have no restore point, it wont find any image, startup repair says it fails and points me to "c:\windows\system32\logfiles\srt\srttrail.txt" in cmd, I can run diskpart and see:

volume 0 D (no label) (no Fs) DVD-ROM 0B No Media
volume 1 C Acer NTFS Partition 449GB Healthy
volume 2 (no letter) Recovery NTFS Partition 400MB Healthy Hidden
volume 3 (no letter) ESP FAT32 Partition 300MB Healthy Hidden
volume 4 E (no label) NTFS Partition 350MB Healthy Hidden
volume 5 (no letter) Push Button NTFS Partition 15GB Healthy Hidden

if I assign a letter to the recovery partition, I can see there are files including one that says OEM, so im guessing that means it may have everything it needs? not sure. I haven't looked into everything yet. anybody know what this push button is? if its a tool, how can it be used?

if u need me to be more specific somewhere, just let me know. Im going to be one this site til I figure it out. just trying to save myself from ordering the disc sets for my laptop. last time I did that was for Toshiba and it took a month to get the stinkin $40 worth of 4 dvd's. and dvd 3 didn't work, so I had to wait a month AGAIN! lol im sure companies vary, but I don't like acers customer service so far. by the time I got the number for the discs, it was past 5pm. help and advice is much appreciated!

by the way, when I open cmd and view the c:\ it doesn't show my apps anymore... meaning it DID TRY to reset (it didn't just stop before it made changes, and tell me it cant... it just tried and failed completely)

Ive assigned letters to every partition, i feel like ive searched every dir with /a, i found one dir in the recovery partition with 4 different labeled .wim and 1 dir with an image.wim. I tried to dism the .wim to the c (even after a quick format on c, keeping its name "Acer") and it failed at 1% due to an i/o error... Leaving me with the same files i began with in the c drive. I tried the most recently modified .wim of the 4 in that 1 dir and it loaded 100% successfully... No change. Its getting late and i get off work at 6p tomorrow, so hopefully by then there will be some suggestions. My dad and i are shooting in the dark. someone wanna chime in? All the files i want are on a usb and on OneDrive. I hadnt made an image or point cuz i wasnt expecting any of this. [lesson learned]
