I came on here earlier today asking for advice on what to upgrade my AMD processor to, and I ended up getting the MSI Z97 GAMING 3 mobo with i5-4960k CPU. I just finished getting it all in the tower and booted up.

First screen was asking to set values in BIOS or load defaults, I checked out some of the BIOS and continued to boot. I got as far as the Starting Windows load bar, and hit a BSOD. Tried Startup Repair, nothing repaired. BSOD keeps repeating.

Any ideas? Thanks guys.

If you have a little LED on your motherboard, see if its displaying any 2 digit code as the computer BSODs. Then look in the manual for that code to see the problem. If you don't have an LED, plug in a little mic that came with the motherboard and it should beep a certain way. Then check what the beeps mean in your motherboard manual.

Couldn't find a light on the mobo, and it didn't come with a microphone as far as I know. It came with two SATA cords and some type of molex looking adapter that plugs into the mobo (unless it's a strange looking microphone)?

Reinstall windows. You cannot change the motherboard and leave the old drivers in place and expect it to boot. A clean install is always recommended.

Could it be a RAM compatibility issue? I have Ripjaws right now.

MSI site shows:
F3-12800CL9Q-16GBXL
F3-12800CL9Q-16GBZL
F3-12800CL9D-8GBSR2

I'm running
F3-12800CL9-2GBXL
F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL

For a clean install, I pop in my Windows 7 disc and set my CD Drive as boot priority?

I'm trying a clean install of Windows now but I read that my original W7 installation is on my old mobo and I won't be able to use it on the new mobo too?

Reinstall the windows, cause the old windows are not accustomed with the new hardware and will show constant BSOD even at safe mode. You need to repair the windows or install a new one. I also faced the same problem 2 days back.
