I've been looking around systemrequirementslab and I saw my pc pass the minimum requirement for games that need core 2 quad. How does an i3 beat a quadcore?
my cpu: intel i3 4130

More about : difference core quad

The i3 has hyperthreading which means four logical cores on that CPU.

Yeah but compare that to four real cores

Core2Quad:
- Four physical cores
- Older architecture
- Older socket
- Lower frequency
- More overall cache (L1/L2 specifically. No L3)

i3 4130:
- Two physical cores, and two logical cores. (Four in total, due to Hyperthreading).
- Newer architecture
- Newer socket
- Higher frequency
- Lower power consumption
- L3 cache (3MB shared)

Those are the main differences. The biggest of which are the differences in clock frequency, architecture, and cache. The newer i3 architecture is much more efficient than the Core2Quad architecture. The clock frequency only further benefits the performance of the advanced architecture. The Core2Quad benefits from a larger L1/L2 cache, but lacks the L3 cache of the i3.

You convinced me at L3 cache. Thanks!
