I can't decide what PSU to get, this is the rig I am building:

Intel i7-4790K
Noctua NH-D15
MSI GAMING 4G GeForce GTX 970
G.SKILL Ripjaws X 2x8GB 1866
Asus Z97-A

Should I get a 550W or 650W PSU? And do you have any recommendations?

550 is fine, but if you want to add another 970 in the future, get a 650

I was told that if I want SLI with another 970 I should go for 850W?

lol 90w for cpu, 150w each gpu, 10w for hdd, a few for ram and fans, you get around 450w, more when overclocked, but certainly not even close to 850

The GTX 970 has a TDP of only 145W, so you could argue a 500W would be sufficient to run two of those in SLI.

Only problem is, you'd need a PSU with enough 6/8pin connectors because it seems each 970 may require one 6-pin and one 8-pin.
Most 500-550W PSUs don't have that many connectors.

I was originally gonna go for EVGA SuperNOVA G2 750W until I was told it is in no-mans land (650 enough for 1, 850 enough for 2)! But was that the right choice or overkill? It is only $115! Or would you recommend something different 650W?

^It comes up to $90 in Canada (not counting rebate, which I will never use)! And 80+ Bronze! I would like something with Gold if possible! Was looking SeaSonic but it is more than that EVGA!
