Hi all,

I have a Seagate Expansion 500GB external hard drive. For the past few weeks, it has been acting up. When I plug it into my laptop, it is read fine. However, after maybe 10 or 15 mins of browsing the files and playing video, the drive will disconnect from the laptop and immediately reconnect.

I've ran it through HD tune to check if there were any bad sectors and to check the overall health of the drive but everything came up as OK.

I don't believe it is the USB cord because it runs fine with my WD My Passport Ultra.

Also, as a side note, while the Seagate is plugged in, my USB mouse tends to chug and freeze at times.

Any help would be really appreciated and early thanks for any advice!

Hey I PewPew U Too. This is a bit odd. Firs I'd suggest that you backup your important data if your HDD is acting up strangely. I'd suggest that you try it with a different cable even though this one works fine with the WD My Passport Ultra, because they might have different power usage, and if it's faulty it might not do the trick for the other drive. You should also update its firmware to the latest version and check out the USB ports' drivers as well (update/rollback). You can also do a "chkdsk" scan of your drive.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions.
