Hey everyone,

I think it's about time to let my GTX560Ti rest, so I'm going to get a GTX970. For now, I have a Cooler Master GX450W PSU that runs an Intel i5 2500k CPU, a pair of 8GB RAMs, one SSD and one 7200rpm HDD, with three 12mm fan.

As far as I know the GTX560Ti needed around 170W, while the GTX970 would be around 145W, so one would think it's a fair trade without psu problems. I'm not planning to overclock anything and it would run a single 1080p display.

So here's my question, would this rig be alright or I should get a better PSU, like an FSP Raider 550W for an example?

Thanks in advance,

Vesgar

It'd be fine, if your PSU could take the 560 Ti, then 970 would be fine, atleast on stock. And the upgrade for PSU you were thinking about, the FSP raider, is infact a very low quality PSU, you better use the current one than getting that. PSU upgrade would be the next thing to look for after getting the GPU, any 500W+ from Antec/ XFX/ EVGA/ SeaSonic would be good.

The GTX 970 has a TDP of only 145W. Your 450W should run it just fine.
