Wow, that does seem high - I have an 840 Evo that gives around 1000MB/s in Magician, which I understand is typical... I presume this is connected by a Sata III port? Can I ask what mobo you're using?

Try using Aja DiskspeedTest - it's a free download. Blackmagic also have a similar tool, and there are others. Bottom line is, different tools will test differently and yield varying results as such

I am currently using Maximus Gene VII by Asus, all my specs are in my signature. SSD 840 250gb here also.

Are you using RAPID mode? Magician 4.4 updated RAPID to use more RAM, so results with RAPID are alot higher than before, which used to be around 1000mb/s.

WOW, I've just updated Magician to version 4.4 and now I'm getting similarly crazy numbers to those pictured above...

So yea, if you disable RAPID mode, you'll see the normal up to numbers.

I'll stick with Rapid mode!!! I would love to see Tom's do an in-depth look at this, to see just how much of the time, for what data types, etc, the Evo actually delivers those sort of speeds...
