I am having trouble installing Windows 7 on a new SSD drive. I'm installing on my existing desktop PC - Intel i5-2500K CPU with 8GB Ram.
Windows will not find ANY drivers - even though I've selected automatically update drivers etc during the clean install.
This is what I have done:
Disconnected SATA cable from existing Drive.
Connected new SATA and Power cables to new SSD.
Reboot - and set DVD drive as first boot option, plus SATA type AHCI.
Inserted OEM Windows 7 disk in DVD drive, and rebooted.
Selected Custom install option.
Advanced options and clicked "Format" drive.
Went through install procedure.
Deselected DVD drive as first boot option.
I can boot into Windows - but not even monitor drivers are loaded. No network controllers are loaded, and if I say select any Controller in Device Manager and either try update/install drivers - it comes back with no drivers found.
I have reconnected my old hard drive, and everything is work fine (just very slow - hence reason for SSD drive).
What have I done wrong - can anybody point me in the right direction?
Many Thanks
Ewhen

If this is a new custom build that you bought all the parts for, once in windows put the cd that came with the motherboard into the dvd drive and install all the drivers for the motherboard. This will take care of the chipset, network, usb, and onboard audio. If the computer from a manufacture then you need to use another computer and download the drivers from their webpage.

Only thing you did wrong is that you did not read the directions on how to install Windows on a clean system. Windows does not have built-in drivers for a lot of devices, you have to get them yourself. If you are not connected to the internet since you have no network drivers, how is it going to update the drivers? You can tell it to, but if there is no internet connection it won't be able to check Windows Upate for any new drivers. Even then Microsft does not have the drivers for quite a bit of hardware out there. Follow the steps in the post above, will take care of things for you.
