Hi everyone,

At the moment I've been trying to think of a way to get display from my PC in my room to the large TV out in the lounge room. I know it would be better to purchase another PC however I simply don't have the money to afford one at the moment. The distance from my PC to the TV (for cable length) is about 20 metres, maybe a tad over. I thought of doing wireless hdmi however this would seem problematic as the distance is so great. So it came down to using a very long HDMI cable, except, the internet has told me that for any distances over 50ft I would experience dropouts, sparkles and other strange things so I would need to use some other piece of hardware to boost the signal. Now, I know I'll need a 20m or 25m HDMI cable in order to do this, but I have no idea what sort of thing I would need to boost the signal, or where I would even think of purchasing this. Any insight onto this would be greatly appreciated!

P.S. Does the HDMI cable need to be special in order to work with a signal booster?

P.S.S. I live in Australia, so pretty please don't refer me to Newegg!

Yes it will require two cables.

Set it up like this: Graphics port > short 2-5m cable > repeater > long cable all the way to your TV

Shouldn't matter what cables you use unless its a crappy one. Poor quality cables have a higher impedance meaning the signal will deteriorate faster over the same distance vs. a good cable.

Thanks for your help! I have one last question, just to double check, but how bad do you think the latency will be with this repeater?

Don't know. Never used one before, although the latency will probably vary depending on the quality of the device. I doubt it will be noticeable at all.

Hmm, seems like this is probably the best choice, I'll have a bigger look into it though, thanks for your help!
