Hello there
I am a bit confused about apu and cpu. I need to build a pc for games. I had amd 965 with msi 890 fx and sapphire 5830. I need something at least as fast and I have about $700 for it without the monitor.
I am thinking about am3+ cpu with r7 260. I have seen a quad amd cpu that runs on 4 ghz. I am also confused about the mother board. I am not in the statea btw.
Thanks a lot
Mike

The FX 8350 is an eight core AMD processor. It will work fine with the R7 260.

why doesnt anyone suggest the fx 8320? it's basicly a clocked down fx 8350.
I like rockies build. but if he would change the CPU with an fx 8320, and then the mobo ofc, there would be money for a more powerfull card, or a cpu cooler to overclock the CPU

* Points at Sig *

How about a FX 6350 or 8320 + liquid cooler + good 970 board + R9 280

You could probably do all those + a better PSU for $700 or less.

Here's a good starting point. Tweak as needed.

This board will support your current 965be and also up to an FX 8350 so the suggestion above about the FX 8320 can also be supported. ;)
The cooler can handle an x6 at 4.5-4.6GHz, and x8 at 4.3-4.5GHz.
The PSU is a little over-speccd, but it was on sale for the same price as the 650w. Free upgrade. :)
You could change the GPU to an R9 280 and still be under $700.
