I have been given an new desktop at my office and I am trying to get information from my old desktop using Remote Desktop. The old machine was named "FLAST" and renamed to be "FLAST-OLD". The new machine was named "FLAST".

I cannot ping the FLAST-OLD machine by the machine name or ip address. I have no issues with getting to other machines on our network (Windows Server)

More about : remote desktop connect

Is it hooked up to the network still? If so, is it pulling an ip address?

On the old computer, open a console window as admin and run ipconfig /all to see if you are pulling an IP address. Also be sure remote desktop is enabled on the old computer.

We had to delete the computers from the server and removed them from the dns on each machine. then reattached to server, and it work now.
