I have read this only requires a 500w psu, which is what i have now, but my mboard only has pci 2.0
will my 500w psu and pci 2.0 be enough ?

More about : msi gtx 980 gaming 4gb gddr5

PCIe 2.0 would be enough, what specific model of 500W are we talking about? High quality ones can support the card. And what CPU do you have on the MoBo?

1. Not all 500w PSUs are created equal, what exact unit model do you have?

2. PCI-e 2.0 is not much of a bottleneck, but I have not seen any recent testing to support this. So it may have changed recently.

3. What CPU do you have?

4. The GTX970 is A LOT more value for money. The GTX980 is just 10% faster but costs 60%+ more.

That power supply is not going to cut it.

Get a proper power supply and a GTX970. It wil still be cheaper than a GTX 980.

The CPU is good, PSU however is poor quality, I'd not risk a 970 or 980 on it, upgrade it to a decent 550W or higher from Antec/ SeaSonic/ XFX/ EVGA. XFX Pro 550W is a good value/money.

GTX 970 can max out any title currently and is just about 10-15% less powerful than 980, but it also costs about 50% less, and tbh, I'd SLI two 970s for the price of single 980+$50. Will throw the 980 out of water perfomance wise, you'd need a 750W PSU though, EVGA B2 is a great quality value/money one :)

ok cool, 970 is good enough then, and the xfx pro 550w would be enough ? or shall i get higher and in time add another 970

I'd get a 750W one so I don't have to worry about PSU whenever I want to SLI, EVGA B2, or Rosewill Capstone M or EVGA G2 are good options.

Yes, I know.
More demand than production.
I asked the store and the salesman said that nVidia had problems with the production capacity.
I guess that I was lucky to be able to buy an MSI GTX 970 4G for me last week.
I tried to find one more for my brother and I can not find anything from MSI, eVGA, MSI, Gigabyte, etc. in my fav store.
The only one I can find is only Galax GTX 970 EX OC and I ordered it.
Galax is unfamiliar to me, I will see if it is also good.

hmmm..I hope you checked the length of the Gigabyte tri windforce, if it fits your case.
The card is a bit longer than MSI GTX970 4G and Galax GTx970 EX OC for example.
