Hi! I'm here at work and am having some issues with one pc. All of a sudden the computer stopped connecting t the internet, which is wired.

The pc presenting the issues will always restart to a base state image, so we can disconsider software related problems I believe. Nevertheless I booted a different OS from my rescue disk, which turned out to be useless.

I tried ipconfig releasing and renewing also with no results. The connection LED is active, but the data traffic doesn't light up. I tried using the ethernet cable on another PC and it worked normally, I even re-crimped the RJ-45 connector.

So as nothing seemed to work I thought the problem was with the onboard network controller, so I bought a cheap 10/100 network card.. Installed it together with the drivers and... Nothing, same issue, no data traffic.

Can anyone please shed me some light? The only thing I can think of is checking the connection on the network switch, but since the cable works in the other pc this shouldn't be the issue.

Please help! :)

EDIT: I should also say that I don't have access to my LAN on that PC, so it's not only the internet connection. I tried accessing my router through that pc and wasn't successful doing so.

Could someone please try to shed me some light in this matter? Could this be that the motherboard is failing somehow even though I'm trying to use a network adapter?
