Hi all. I recently bought an evga gtx 970 sc acx 1 and a msi gtx 970 gaming for my work and home computers. I was attempting to hook these up in sli just to try it out for the first time. My computer recognizes the card but I can't enable sli in the nvidia control panel since it is grayed out. I have an i5 4590k with asus Maximus vii hero MB. Should I install both cards and then reinstall the nvidia drivers? I had each card hooked up individually to confirm they both operated correctly. The cards are in the PCI e 3.0 16x and PCI e 3.0 8x lanes running at 8x. I just started building computers in the last 2 months and this is the first problem I can't seem to solve. All suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I would uninstall and reinstall the driver just as something to try with both cards in the PC, as it might help.

Also make sure the SLI connector is on good. Its possible for the connection cable to be faulty too and causing the trouble.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the nvidia driver but that didn't work. I am about to change the sli connector to another to check that. Is there anything else I can do if it is not the sli connector?

happened to me too, try and make sure that every single aspect of nvidia drivers are uninstalled. Then go to their site and completely redownload the drivers for the 970. See if that works. Also, try and reconnect the sli bridge after you have shut down your computer. Hope this helps.
