I am currently using windows 7 and I want to ask if Windows 8.1 is worth the upgrade since I did hear that it does perform in many areas but do you think it is worth it? Also is there any way I get to keep everything I had on win 8 including taskbar settings registry settings and of course files and aplications. I want to upgrade since I am using a pirated copy of windows 7 and I want to get the legitimate copy of an OS. What do you think?

yes i have windows 8.1 and i like it! But i like windows 7 too but we windows 8 and 8.1 is probably going to get windows 9 for free and thats very good! so upgrade is going to be worth it! :D

I don't think i'll be a windows user after windows 7 I just don't care for a cloud based os I prefer my stuff on my drive and not some Microsoft server somewhere out there in the world .. when Microsoft puts my personal stuff in the back seat that's where they will go too.. eaven with 7 I have to use xp and vista for all my e-mails cause in 7 its cloud mail service

Since i am using a cracked version of windows 7 and alot of people I know started using 8.1 and say it's great for gaming and multitasking. IDK but if that's the case I can wait for win 10.

I just don't care for the app screen, I feel that it is unnecessary.

In my opinion windows 8's desktop looks nice but what annoys me is the app screen. I believe it's possible to not get rid of it but get the start menu and all that back and stick with the other windows 8 option. I'm getting it on my laptop so then I guess I'll decide whether or not I should get it on my PC.
