So I just updated my computer using msi live updater. I started it then popped out to go downstairs and get a drink because I thought it would take some time. Came back and it says my computer is restarting. I've had trouble in the past with my pc taking two attempts to turn on. I think it's because I have windows 8 and uefi but my gpu doesn't have that (if you know what I mean) anyway. Sorry for rambling the main point here is whilst it's in the restart screen can I turn off the computer then turn it on again? Again sorry for going on I'm just a worried computer owner

Update: Been on the restart screen for 15-20 mins

Do you know if your motherboard has dual BIOS? If you don't, what is your motherboard?

Not sure. It's a MSI H61M-P31/W8 I think (found it online as prebuilt)

Well your motherboard doesn't have dual BIOS, it has a feature called 'M-Flash' instead where you can backup your BIOS on a USB flash drive.

It will probably be ok if you turn it off... I just don't want to be the person to recommend that lol, it's a bit like Russian Roulette.

I will wait for one or two more people to say it's ok. If it's bricked would I only have to replace the mob? If so recomend me one win 8 compatible and can support my 650ti

You wouldn't have to replace the motherboard per se, you could just ask the manufacterer to install a new BIOS chip or do it yourself if you know how, but that's worst case scenario and I doubt your motherboard will be bricked, fingers crossed anyway!

Yay! Is there a reason you need to update your BIOS?

I was on version 2.8 and the newest was like 3.5 so I was really out of date. It was from 2012. So I felt like I needed to

Also it was a early windows 8 bios so it didn't support certain graphics cards and updating it to a newer bios that supported iy fixed an issue I was having. So happy right now
