Hi All,

I would like know what are the benefits/disadvantages to downgrade from windows 8 to windows 7, The thing is that I bought a new (Toshiba Satellite S55-B5258 15.6-Inch Laptop), it comes with windows 8.1, and I found it no as good as windows 7, for example I dislike all the restrictions that it has, the windows phone home screen style, also features like Onedrive, I have not success disabling that, so I need someone with experience that could recommend me if I should stay on windows 8 and why?, or if I should downgrade to win7 and why?,(Not sure if there are drivers for windows 7).

I would really appreciate any answer, thanks in advance.
Regards,
Dudu

There are no significant disadvantages.

I did that 2 days after a bought my current laptop. It came with win 8, but it was very inefficient to do my job fluently. So i downgraded to win 7.

Win 8.1 has better memory management, DirectX 11.2 and ............................... nothing else. Win 7 is better for work, gives better battery life than win 8 thanks to less stuff working in the background, more compatibility.

Just make a recovery disk before if ever plan to return to win 8.1 in the future.

I would have to agree with Brunostake. I have not noticed any difference between the 2 and I have used 8 on low end hardware. I would go with 7 if it has 4 gigs or less.

I have found that if you have more than that then 8.1 runs better.

I also agree with velo3100.

I was actually surprised with the performance of win 8.1 on very low end hardware, there are less slowdowns than on previous versions of windows. Those memory improvements are noticeable. But of course low end PCs/laptops are for entertainment, for work i still recommend win 7.

And yes, you better have at least 4 GB of ram.

Thanks Brunostako and velo3100, There is no problem with the hardware the laptop has 8Gb of RAM an a Corei7, I just want to make sure that I would have all drivers and everything will be working fine, Im going to give 8.1 a try for maybe a week, but Yeah completely agree with you, Win7 es much better for work
