I'm thinking i5 4440 + Vanguard B85 motherboard.
Is this a bang for the buck combo? And I currently have an R7 260x to pair it with.

Will be using this for gaming, mostly and a few office works.
Games like BF4, AC Unity, WatchDogs, 2k15, DotA2.

I have saved around U$300+ for upgrades. The lesser I spend on the proc and mobo the better.
I'm also planning to get a larger HDD or maybe even an SSD.

Maybe I'll upgrade the GPU soon to something like the R9's or a GTX760 or any sub U$230 cards.

Or is it better to just get the 4670 / 4690 and stick with the 260x?

What do you guys think?

H97 will give you support for next gen intel chips, commonly known as broadwell. The 4460 is only $2 more than the 4440. The 100mhz is worth $2. You do not need the DVI and HDMI ports, as you will be using your 260x.

I thought so too about the ram.

But isn't the difference between the 2, only the .1ghz higher clockspeed of the 4460?
Anyway, can I get either whichever's cheaper? Or is the 4460 better? Price to performance wise.

Also, what is the real advantage of H mobos? I know that Z's are for overclocking but if I'm not overclocking, wouldn't it be better if I just get an entry level motherboard like the B85 to shave a little off the budget? I still need to buy another stick of 4GB ram and a 1TB HDD.

Also, my case only supports mATX. So I'm thinking, if ever I see a good difference between the B's and H's, then the http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-h97mplus. Since it already has the things I need, like USB 3.0 header, SATA 3(6gb/s), angled SATA headers, few fan headers, DVI and HDMI ports.
