Hi everyone!

I am currently in quite a pickle. I have my gaming PC all set-up, but by the love of God I can not find a way to get Windows 8.1 (or any, for that matter) for it. I am a student and Microsoft offers a student discount for Windows 8.1 (only €60,-), but it seems to be only a download.

What I need obviously is an installation CD to get it ready. Does anyone have any idea/suggestion how or where to get this? I would really prefer obviously to get it at the student discount rate, but from what I understood from microsoftstore.com, it's only a download.

Thanks in advance!

You dont need a CD.

You can install from USB stick using the win 7 usb tool:

the download would have to be in an iso format, you can just burn that to a disk or load up on a bootable flash drive to install

Hi

Since you are on line I assume you have access to a PC from which you can down load a ISO image of windows 8 then you need a DVD writer and a DVD-r disk

Either internal or external USB DVD drive will do

Alternatively a 8GB usb memory stick and Microsoft software designed to put windows 7 onto a USB memory stick
This works with windows 8 as well

Then read user guide for motherboard on how to boot from USB or DVD drive

On some motherboards pressing f8 or f12 at switch on can go to a one time boot selection menu
