I can run Batman Arkham City on ultra settings easily without PhysX on high. However, when I try to change PhysX from normal to high the game crashes. With PhysX on normal, all other settings on max, and FXAA on High I get an average of 150 fps (according to the in-game benchmark).

I am not sure why the game is crashing when I set PhysX to high. Can anyone help me out? Here's my system specs:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
MOBO: ASRock Z97 Extreme3
CPU: Intel Core i5-4690k
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 770 4GB Superclocked w/ACX Cooler
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Blue 8GB 1600 MHz
PSU: 600 watt Thermaltake TR2

That game is horribly optimized for PhysX and Dx11. Best to play in Dx9 with no PhysX. Game looks pretty good with those settings anyway. Seriously, no one does UE graphics better than Rocksteady. In anyone else's hands, it's an overrated engine. In their's, it's golden.

My driver version is 344.11. I can't seem to find any logical reason for the game to crash when PhysX is set on high. Pretty sure it's just poorly optimized software and not anything to do with my hardware. It used to crash back in the day when I had a different MOBO and CPU. I used the FX-8320 CPU and a Gigabyte 970A-D3P MOBO and Arkham City crashed with that setup as well.

In the settings, they either highly recommend you have a dedicated PhysX card, or require it for High PhysX. I was able to run it at high with one of my 680's dedicated, but I don't recall good results either way. Just stick with medium or less. It isn't worth it.

I just turned off PhysX completely. The game runs a good bit smoother now too. I don't think PhysX on Arkham City is all that demanding especially for newer hardware. I think it's just poorly optimized. It's too bad, I always thought the PhysX on the game added to the environment. I was able to run it for a little bit but now it just crashes on me.
